Dragon's Dogma 2: Grimoire Locations and Who Gets the Real Books

At a glance

Keep real grimoires for Trysha. Myrddin can accept Ibrahim’s forgeries; a three-book handover can also advance each quest. Do not cast the quest books from your inventory.

Keep the originals for Trysha

Trysha needs real grimoires. Myrddin can accept forgeries made by Ibrahim. Do not use the books as consumable spells before deciding how to divide them.

Grimoire Location or requirement
Let There Be Light Upstairs table in Myrddin’s house at Checkpoint Rest Town; wear Courtly Tunic and Courtly Breeches to enter
Fulminous Shield Buy from Dudley in Melve
Howling Blizzard Red chest in the large second-floor room of Waterfall Cave
Nation’s Death Knell The same Waterfall Cave chest; opening it triggers a boss encounter
Towering Earth Speak to Waldhar in the underground library in Vernworth’s Slums after The Caged Magistrate

Reach the cave books and the second copy

Enter Waterfall Cave from the eastern side of Borderwatch Outpost. Head to the eastern end of the first floor, climb to the second floor, and find the red chest. Be ready for the enemy that appears when you open it; getting the books does not require staying for a prolonged fight.

A second Nation’s Death Knell is in Ancient Battleground castle. Take the ladder to the left of the entrance, leave the tower, find the opening downward, and search the side room.

Divide the books before handing them over

One workable three-book allocation gives Trysha Let There Be Light, Fulminous Shield, and Nation’s Death Knell, leaving the other three real copies—including the second Nation’s Death Knell—for Myrddin.

Alternatively, have Ibrahim make forgeries first, then give Trysha originals and Myrddin copies. Check item names before each handover. When asked whether you have finished collecting, confirm only after the intended books have been delivered.

Three books can advance the quests; you do not need to find ten books or forge every copy. Finish Trysha’s later events to collect the teaching rewards.
